Aftercare, Support & Mentoring
We differ from other schools in many ways and this is yet another feature which is individually tailored. As well as having an agency in which we only place make-up artists trained by ourselves, knowing their strengths and weaknesses, we act as mentors after completing the course.
This may vary from a one-to-one meetings*, career advice, freelance support and future development. Throughout the course we are on hand to help and when finishing the course this support remains. The school’s mobile phone is always on for last minute questions or advice and we are always at the end of an email. We encourage previous students to keep in touch with us.
Our reputation is dear to us and we strongly believe that you represent the school and those individual tutors whom are at the top of their specialised fields and who are hugely respected within the industry (see tutors page). For this reason we recommend utilising all the schools facilities and knowledge, including participating in as much on set work experience as possible whilst studying at LSMM. This may consist of a theatre production, short film, catwalk show designing and executing, assisting on a music video, commercial and dailies.
The portfolio week is crucial to your immediate development and success this is why we use the studio and professional photographers such as Will Robson-Scott & Jane Hobson to ensure each student has a selection of outstanding images for either a portfolio book or website.
LSMM offers work experience whilst studying at the school. We also try to place graduates on both work experience and paid jobs upon completion of the course. We have many contacts within the industry in each field covered.
Friends of LSMM include The National Film & Television School, The London Film School, The BFI and many more. The students of LSMM and film schools often team up with up coming Directors, Producers and writer’s of films school’s which can build on going professional relationships for years to come.
In addition we have pool of contacts actively working from production companies to Directors & Producers who call upon us to place LSMM make-up artists at all stages designer to trainee. These companies call on us for quality and assurance the make-up artist will have all the correct skills.
